Customs returns in other centres are supplied by the Press Association as follows: —

Auckland.—An increase in Customs duties of £191,364 on the figures for the previous year was recorded at Auckland for the financial year just ended. Customs receipts for March were £293,250, against £209,524 in the corresponding month last year; petrol, £113,347 (£49,481); tires, £1451 (£1773); excise on beer, £16,249 £11179); sales tax, £60,058 (£50,820). Customs receipts for the financial year were £2,785,932, against £2,594,568 in the last financial year; petrol and tires, £639,272 (£567,536); excise on beer £148,090 (£131,330); sales tax, £728,576 (£638,061).

Christchurch.—Customs revenue collected at the port of Christchurch for the financial year just ended was £1,566,236, or £111,605 more than in the 1934-35 financial year. The year's figures compare as follows:—Customs, £905,745 (£832,728); motor spirit tax, £225,963 (£218,333); tire duty, £11,048 (£10,816); beer duty,; £84,173 (£81,433); sales tax, £323,652 (£295,118).
