A! proposal-to road and subdivide a portion tol^the Manawatu A. and 'P, Association's- ; ;showgrounds in Cuba Street JPalroerston North, and purchase another property where future spring shows can be held, was given majority approval at a special meeting of the general committee of the association yesterday,, reports the "Manawatu Daily Times." ■■ -* ■-'■ This proposal on the part of the association has. been brought about by growing financial difficulties and the setback1 th^t occurred when' the hurricane of Febraary 2 destroyed the main grandstand and caused other damage involving several thousands of pounds. ■ There was a considerable' voice -in favour of Awapuni as the new location,' a suitable ground being in view, but there were others of the committee who, while agreeing with the proposal to .move the spring show, thought more suitable sites were offering. The result was that the question of the exact site will not. be .decided till the main issue of: divorcing.•the two shows is settled afthe annual meeting.
'The following,motions v/tera subsequently carried, on a division, for submission, to the annual meeting on April 8:— - - ' " - , ,
••J. fThat after making* full inquiries and'giving: the matter every consideration, the committee recommend that the association secure a.new site for the spring show, while retaining approximately six acres for the winter show." "'
2. "That in furtherance, of. this objective, approximately 28 acres of the present showgrounds be cut up, into Nuilding sections and sold."
