GOLD MISSION WELL

grateful; may, go north

(Special from "Hurry On.")

NEW PLYMOUTH, March 30.

Though there was not a great deal of galloping on the New Plymouth tracks on Saturday nearly all the horses in training were given good, steady tasks. Most of the work took place on the plough, which was in good order.

Mustang, who has recently rejoined H. Dulieu's team, did two rounds at an easy half-pace. He has built up wonderfully during his spell, and bears a healthy, strong appearance. As he has proved his ability to handle soft tracks he should be useful during the winter.

The big Tea Tray two-year-old Bon Sante hit out in bold fashion over a circuit with Wahine Nui. A patient policy has been adopted with him, but he may be given a race before the season closes.

Sporting Song, who is carrying more condition than formerly, was let off with an easy task. Like Mustang, he is being prepared for the winter racing. He was schooled during the spring and showed aptitude for the jumping game. Grateful, who has come through his recent racing splendidly, was sent twice round the reverse way. Though no definite decision has been made, he may do his Easter racing at Ellerslie. Gold Mission's two races at Awapuni have worked a big improvement in her, and she is looking a picture. She pulled hard in her pace work, and at I one stage nearly took charge of her| rider. She should not be hard to place at Easter. w . .. i Script bowled twice round, sprinting down the straight the second time. He looks bright and muscular, having thrown off the soreness that troubled him at Christmas. He will be racing at Wairarapa at Easter, when he may prove capable of paying his way. After his failure at Trentham Court Anna has been blistered and turned out for a spell. . i Davistock and Ngatirahiri separately were sent twice round at a swinging half-pace. R. Johnson has this pair in splendid order for the Easter meetand Dawn Star .worked over a circuit, the last three furlongs at three-quarter pace. Glenvane was sore and stiff after his fall at Awapuni, but he has made a quick recovery, and hit out very freely. . Hinepuni ran half a mile on the tual grass in 54 l-ssec. She was inclined to loaf in the straight and might do better in company. . &•*„* Lady Kyra's leg has again filled slightly, and she was not on the track.) The double is not expected to prove; SeR°W. Savage will be riding at Wha-! ngarei on Thursday and Saturday. His. mounts on the opening day include Bonny Gay and Gay Defence, Savage is riding with great success this season, having scored 33 wins so far.
