LYALL BAY LIBEABY

OPENING THIS EVENING

Residents of Kilbirnie and Lyall Bay are invited by advertisement in this issue, to attend the opening of the new branch library at the corner of Wha Street and Onepii Road this evening.

A novel feature of this library is that free acojss to the books on the shelves whether fiction, works of reference, or magazines, is available to anyone, wither subscribers or not. Of course, only subscribers may take works of fiction, etc., away, but anyone may enter, take a novel from the shelves,. and read it on the premises. It.has been found that the quiet which is maintained in such libraries offers opportunities for readers which are not always available in their lodgings. The new branch library is comfortably and handsomely furnished, and contains nearly 3000 books, which will be added to. There is a well-arranged children's section. The room itself is cheerful and pleasant.
