COYOTE HUNTING
THE "DIAMOND 8" RANCH
HUNTSMEN IN PINK COATS
That hunting coyotes in the State of Colorado, U.S.A., is a popular winter sport, run somewhat on the lines of English fox-hunting, was recounted by Miss Dorothy West,, who, with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. B. West, of California, and her aunt, Mrs. John.G. Kerr, of Denver, Colorado, arrived in Sydney recently, states the "Sydney Morning Herald."
Miss West has previously visited England and Europe, but this time her trip has taken her via New Zealand, and with her .family she will travel to Java and Japan before returning to America. While at home; she divides her time between California, where her father owns two homes, and Denver, Colorado. The coyote hunting at Denver must be as exciting-as Wild West thrillers lead us to'believe,' for Miss West explained thatthe hunts begin at a ranch called the "Diamond 8." Some of the huntsmen wear pink coats according to the English tradition, and 'foxhounds like the English ones are used. Early morning after a fall of snow is the best time for i the hunting; according to Miss West, as the dogs can pick iip the trail most easily in show. Many, fences have to be negotiated," and as the ground is slippery good: horsemanship is a necessity. Miss West has . three sisters and a brother who are equally, keen on the sport."
