FURTHER BOMBING
BRITISH AMBULANCE
UNIT WIPED OUT IN ABYSSINIA
LONDON, March 9.
Simultaneously with the news that Italy has suspended hostilities comes news from Addis Ababa of heavy bombing at Erga Alem. The British ambulance was also bombed a. third time. It appears that the latter outrage occurred on March 7, while Red Cross officials in London ■ were telegraphing to Abyssinia for details of the second bombing. It is believed that as a consequence of the successive attacks the elaborately-equipped unit has been wiped out. The personnel, however, are still striving to carry on. > It is uncertain whether the bombardment of Erga Alem" occurred before or after the truce, about which it is impossible to obtain: confirmation from Rome. An official of the Ministry of Propaganda declared that it was impossible to make a statement. "As far as we are concerned the war is still on." he said. When shown an advance copy of an Italian newspaper carrying news of the truce in flaming headlines, he declined: to comment.
