AMATEUR ATHLETIC MEETING.
The Canterbury-Wellington "amateur athletic contest to be held at the Basin Reserve next Saturday is '.arousing keen interest and given a fine day the meeting should be one of the best held locally for a considerable time. The Canterbury team is an exceptionally good one including as it does V. G, Boot, New Zealand half and mile champion, J B. MacFarlane, sprinter, T. G. Broadway, 440 yds, J. P. Nelligan, E. P. Newburgh, A. T. • Anderson, hurdles, and. V. Blake, pole vault, .all well known nationally. Boot's appearance, which will be the first he has made in the.' Nbrth Island, is being eagerly awaited hi view, of the fact that he is considered in some quarters to have prospects of Olympic selection. His contest, in the mild with A. R. Wilson should be the tit-bit of the meeting. The supporting members of the southern team are all at present in fine form and some particularly good competition should result. •
