MURDERS AT KARACHI
AGED MOSLEM GAOLED
POISONED TEA ALLEGED (Received February 26, 10 a.m.) CALCUTTA, February 25. Described as Karachi's Public Enemy . No. 1, and allegedly responsible for the murder of thirteen Moslem pilgrims en route to Mecca, Ohmud Shah, an aged Moslem from the north-west frontier, was sentenced at Karachi to seventeen years' imprisonment with hard labour. It is alleged that Shah, pretending to be a priest, gave pilgrims tea in which there was datura, a deadly poison, afterwards throwing the bodies, weighted with stones, into the sea. Three pilgrims did not touch the tea, and informed the police, whereupon Shah was arrested.
