BRIEF STRANDING
MATAI'S EXPERIENCE

WHANGAREI, This Day.
The Government steamer Matai after taking ninety tons of fresh water aboard at Rawene yesterday stranded off Tapuwai Flats owing to mistaking a turning. The fresh water was discharged and the vessel floated off at high tide undamaged.
