Hard. of Hearing League.
On Saturday, the lip-reading students and members of the executive committee of the New/Zealand League for the Hard of Hearing '(Wellington branch) took part in a very enjoyable'outing. At the kind invitatio.n of Dr. Harty, the president of the Wellington branch of the league, they were guests at an informal garden gathering at. his residence in Belmont. All present were highly appreciative of the beautiful home and gardens of Dr. Harty and spent a very happy afternoon in such luxurious surroundings. A delicious afternoon tea was provided by Mrs. Harty and her daughter, after which thanks were appropriately expressed by one of the students.
Women's Institute.
A meeting of the Newlands Women's institute was held in the schoolroom recently, there being a good attendance of members and'friends. The proceedings opened with the singing of the institute song, and a minute's silence in memory of the late King. Mrs. Brown gave an interesting demonstration on the making of eiderdown
