ART UNION WINNER

(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

AUCKLAND, February 11

The winner of the first prize of £2000 in the "Lucky New Year" art union is Mr. Alexander Wells, a single man, aged 51, of Waihopo, Mongonui County, North Auckland. For over thirty years he has been a gum-digger and bush worker, but indifferent health during the past eighteen months has prevented him from following his usual occupation, and he is now on relief work.

This is the first time that the main prize in an art union has gone to the Far North.
