AIRPORT FOR WHANGAREI

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) WHANGAREI, February 11. Hopes that Whangarei would soon possess an aeroplane landing ground on Pone Island have been frustrated by the refusal of a small farmholder to give up portion of his holding without compensation. A conference of local bodies is to investigate the possibilities of other sites in the vicinity. The town of Whangarei is lagging behind other northland centres which now have landing grounds.
