MAGISTRATE'S COURT
In the Magistrate's Court this morning before Mr. W. F. Stilwell, S.M., William Wood Ballantyne, a labourer, aged 57 was fined 5s for drunkenness. For his fourth offence of drunkenness, Walter Robert Page was sentenced to three weeks' imprisonment.
The Lower Hutt Borough Council last evening instructed the Town Clerk (Mr. B. S. Knox) to request the: pimcipal of the HUtt Valley High School (Mr. J. N. Millard) to instruct pupils of the school to use the sides of Woburn Road when cycling to ana from the school and thus leave the centre of the roadway clear for vehicles. The Mayor also suggested that other cyclists might note the request and do likewise. The engineer (Mr. R. F. Mainland) stated that the sides of the roadway had been laid down with finer metal, which would give a better surface for cycling over.
