MINISTER'S INQUIRY

HELP FOR SUFFERERS

The Government is already interesting itself in the plight of persons who suffered in last Sunday's storm, and the Prime Minister (the Hon. M. J. Savage) today expressed sympathy with those whose property had been damaged. Mr. Savage said that the Minister of Public Works (the Hon. R. Semple) was making an investigation with a view to ascertaining what relief was necessary.

"At the moment," said Mr. Savage, "we do not know what is involved, but when an investigation has been carried out the matter will be placed before Cabinet, and a decision made as to the steps to be taken to give assistance where needed."
