AMERICANS IN LEAD

LOS ANGELES, February 4.

The visiting Australian golfers played their American opponents on fairlyeven terms in the morning round of the international matches at the Lakewood Club course today, but during the afternoon round the, Australians faltered and the Americans won all matches. Scores were:—

Runyan and W. Parks defeated Richardson and Cohen (Australia), 3 and 1.

H. Cooper and Horton Smith defeated Bolger and Kelly (Australia), 5 and 4.

Picard and Duotra defeated Ted Naismith and George Naismith, 4 and 3.

Singles will be played tomorrow.
