NELSON, This Day.

Edward John Cavanagh, aged 25, exchange clerk at the Motueka Post Office, was drowned in the Motueka River yesterday. He left home early in the afternoon for a swim and his body was found at 4.30 p.m. in a deep pool. He had been learning to swim, making use of waterwings, which apparently failed him. His parents are resident at Wellington.
