TAKAPUNA MEETING

(BY "RANGATIRA.")

GOOD ACCEPTANCE LIST

FINAL DAY'S PROSPECTS

(Special from "Early Bird.")

AUCKLAND, This Day. The fields have kept up remarkably well for the concluding day of the Takapuna Jockey Club's Summer Meeting at Ellerslie tomorrow, and it is reasonable to expect a repetition of the thrilling racing seen on Saturday. The weather is changeable but is holding up and the going should be excellent under favourable conditions on the day. A nice field of nine is left in the principal event, the Ealph Handicap, and with Gay Eose (Takapuna Cup winner) out of the way Eoyal Appellant and Mazir should run very prominently, though if Wiggins is available to pilot Mazir he should take all sorts of beating. Monanui, Kelly, and Scotland are possible improvers, and Enge is an interesting newcomer from a stable that is in winning vein.

The open short event, the Devonport Handicap, will see Eereatu endeavouring to go one better than his three seconds in as many recent starts.

Horses that appear to be well placed in the contests of minor importance are Glenacre, King Tut, Sweet Rose, Gay Streak, and Light Comedy.

Form horses engaged are the following:—

Moana Handicap.—Glenacre, High Quality, and Valise. Waiwera Highweight.—King Tut and L'Allegro. Suburbtn Hack Handicap.—Whirling, Sweet Rdse, and Professional. Ralph Handicap.—Mazir, Monanul, and Royal Appellant. Hobson Handicap.—Gay Streak, Inver, and Surella. Hauraki Plate.—Valmint, Keith Lv, and Velocipede. Devonport Handicap. — Crooning, Rereatu, and Lagoon. Anniversary Handicap.—Light Comedy, Vera Acre, and Te Broney. |
