A "PIRATE" DANCE
EVANS BAY YACHT CLUB
The Evans Bay Yacht Club's hall was transformed to represent the "P.S. Blood and Thunder," beached at "Captain Kidd's Cove," on Saturday evening, when a dance arranged by the club was held there. "Ye pirate chief and brother .pirates of ye olde galleon Advance commanded over 200 victims to walk the plank from 8 bells 'till ?" The "walking" took the form of dancing to the most modern music. The "pirate" ship was decorated with many hurricane • lamps, coloured streamers, festoons of coloured lights and flags, and around the walls were skulls and crossbones and drawings of "blood-thirsty pirates." The dancers were all in "pirate" garb, some of the costumes being very striking and original. Numerous suitably branded "kegs"- and the tolling of a large ship's | bell added a nautical atmosphere to ! the dance. :
The "pirate" chief, Rodrick Campbell, made a fearsome looking ruffian. His "black-hearted" crew comprised Pat Smith, Nancy Mienhold, Margaret Hunt, Yvonne Holmes, Ross Arlow, Vern Small, and Arthur Wadsworth.
The |'pirate" band saw to it that their victims were well supplied with music. During the evening a "pirate" supper was wheeled in, which was greatly enjoyed by the "victims" and "crew" alike.
