THREE MAJOR EVENTS
WIN FOR EVANS BAY
Three important events, the Boys' Cup! the Idle-Along Cup, and the Interclub Cup races, were conducted by the Evans Bay Yacht and Motor-boat Club on Saturday. The conditions were almost ideal, and a large number of boats took part in the events. There was a particularly large field in the inter-club race, which was won by Evans Bay. and the Idle-Along event also attracted a large number of entrants.
Imp took the lead at the start of the boys' event and held it to the finish, very few changes in position occurring during the race. The Idle-Along event was anybody's race until after the Miramar mark had beea passed. After the boate had rounded the Kio Bay buoy the race resolved itself into a battle between the Idle Along and the Mayfair. Owing to the light wind, prevailing skilful work was necessary to get the best from ths boats. Mayfair finished some distance ahead of Idle Along, Mabelle taking third honours. •
.The race for the Inter-club Cup was one of the best seen in years, the result being in doubt from start to finish. Although the wind was very light the boats made a race of it and there was a record number of starters. Southern Maid, Advance, and Tassie contested the race all the way. Southern Maid crossing the line a few seconds before Tassie. The following were the results:*— . BOYS' CUP.
