SOUND SALE WITH FREE BIDDING.

Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report a light entry of all classes of fat sheep. Competition being food, higher prices ruled. Store lambs were penned in large numbers, mostly good local lines of outstanding quality. A very large attendance followed this sale to the end, bidding freely. It was a sound sale for all grades of lambs, particularly ewe lambs, which brought high prices considering the size. Several lines of breeding ewes were offered, mostly of uncertain age, but these sold well, as also the odd pens of wethers. With active competition throughout there was a total clearance. Beef offered comprised dairy sorts only, the market remained unchanged from last week. Store cattle were not in heavy supply, but the demand was good and satisfactory prices were received.
