JUNIOR AND INTERMEDIATE
MAORI GIRL'S RECORD
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
HAMILTON, This Day.
Sauntering- leisurely over the distance without the incentive of any real opposition, Nawi Kira, the thirteen-year-old Auckland Maori swimmer, set new figures for the Dominion 100 yards Junior girls' record, when she was officially timed at 68 l-ssec in the first heat at the New Zealand junior and intermediate championships, which opened at the Hamilton Municipal Baths this morning. The previous record was 68 3-ssec, which she reduced by two-fifths of a second. With sterner opposition in' the final this evening she should be capable of further lowering this figure.
Results of heats are as follows:—
