The Governor-General (Lord Gowrie) has received the following message from the King: "My mother and I are
deeply touched by the message of sympathy which you addressed to us and the members of our " family in the name of the Government and people of Australia. Please thank them and assure them how much we appreciate their kind thoughts of us at this time of overwhelming sorrow. Edward R. 1."
