LONDON BUTTER MARKET

The market for New Zealand in London closed firm this week, according to the weekly cable receiyed today by the Dairy Board. Closing wholesale quotations showed no change fror last week. The retail price for New Zealand butter remains unchanged at Is Id a Ib, but the price for Danish has been reduced from Is 3d to Is 2d.

The cheese market also closed firm with prices down Is to Is 6d a cwt.

Wholesale quotations for butter are: New salted, 91s to 92s a cwt (which equals approximately 10.67 d a Ib, f.0.b.), compared with 84s to 85s at the corresponding period last year; unsalted, 102s; Australian, salted, 90s to 91s; Danish, spot, 115s' to 116s. The Imperial Economic Committee's estimated stocks of all butters in store are 374,898 boxes, • compared with 470,311 boxes at the corresponding period last year.

Wholesale cheese quotations are: New Zealand, white, 51s 6d to 52s a cvvt (which equals approximately 5.6 d a ib, f.0.b.); compared with 52s 6d to 54s last week, and 45s 6d to 46s at the corresponding period last year; coloured, 54s 6d to 555; Australian. 50s to 51s;- Canadian, white. .'s9s- to 625; coloured, 60s'to 645; finest English farmers, 96s .to .106s; English factory cheese; 50s to 555. The; board- has. also received the following advice from its agents in Canada:—Butter, New York, 34J to do cents a Ib; Montreal. 24J;: cents.

MINIMUM EXPORT PRICES

' The Dairy Board has fixed the export prices until further notice at lid a lb. f.o.b. (which is equivalent to 89s Id a cwt, c.i.f.e.) for butter, and osd (49s 7d) for cheese.

The New Zealand Producers' Cooperative Marketing Association's weekly cabled market- report from London, dated January 24, is as followg:—Butter:- Market is firmer. New Zealand, 91s to 925; Danish, 114s to 115s. Cheese: Market shows firmer tendency. New Zealand, white. 52s to 52s 6d; coloured, 55s to 55s 6d.
