LONDON, January 4,

Mr. J. H. Hall-Kenney (Wellington), who is to take a course in architecture at London University, has been studying in London examples of the work of Christopher Wren, Inigo Jones, the Adams brothers, and many other, wellknown architects.

Ml-. E. Trevor Williams, of Sheffield, who has lately been doing historical research work in New Zealand, is taking up an appointment this term under Professor Veitch, of Liverpool University.

Major J. I. Chrystall, M.C., 13th/18th Hussars, is to attend the 45th course (third in 1935-36) at the Senior Officers' School, Belgaum, from January 6 to March 28. Major Chrystall came from Christchurch, and has lieen in the British Army since before 'the war.

Tha death occurred on December 21 of a veteran of the Indian Mutiny, Mr. George Day, of Danetree, Chaucer Road, Ashford, Middlesex, at the age of 97. After service with the 60th Rifles (now the King's Royal Corps) lie joined the 3rd Battalion of the 68th Foot (now the Durham Light Infantry) ,in '1857. After the mutiny he was sent to New Zealand, and saw active service against the Maoris, and was decorated. He left the Army in 1807. Last July he was made honorary member of the 63th Foot Regimental Association. His brother, Solomon, who died some years ago, was at the siege of Sebastopol and the battls of Inkerman and Balaklaya.
