LOCAL ACTIVITY
VISIT OF COMMISSIONER
There has been considerable activity in St. John Ambulance affairs in Wellington this week, and it will culminate this afternoon in a parade of all branches before Colonel J. L. Sleeman, C.8., C.M.G., C.8.E., M.V.0., Chief Commissioner of the Brigade Overseas and personal representative of the Grand Prior of the Order (H.R.H. the Duke of Connaught, K.G.).
Yesterday afternoon Colonel Sleeman paid a visit to the headquarters of the Order in Wellington, where he was received by both local and visiting officers and members. This morning he again visited headquarters to attend to the work of his visitation. At the parade and inspection this afternoon he will be accompanied by Colonel G. Barclay, Chief Commissioner for New Zealand.
It was announced 'today that the Grand Prior has approved of the issue of his cadet badge, to Phyllis Hodge, a member of the Brooklyn Cadet Nursing Division.
The Chief Commissioner (Colonel Barclay) has provisionally approved of the formation of the Wellington Young Women's Christian Association's No. 2 Nursing Division with seniority as'from January 1. •
The Chief Commissioner has also approved of the following appointments:
Y.W.C.A. Nursing Division. —Miss J. Redmond to be Women's Division treasurer; Miss V. McFarlane to be division secretary.
Y.W.C.A. No. 2 Nursing Division.— Miss D. I. Hiscock to be division superintendent; Miss I. ,L. Cole to be ambulance officer and division secretary; Miss A. T. Tobin to be division treasurer, and Miss B. P. Cook to be division storekeeper.
Blenheim Ambulance Division.—Albert Holmes to be division secretary and treasurer.
