LIGHT RAIN POSSIBLE

Special forecast for Wellington:— Moderate south-easterly winds. Weather for the most part fair, but occasional light showers still possible.

The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole issued at noon today is for moderate south-easterly to northeasterly winds. The weather for the most part will be fair to cloudy, but scattered showers or misty rain are likely on parts of the East Coast and showers will be extending later to western districts of the South Island.

There has been a slight fall in. pressure since yesterday evening except in the far north, but readings ore still relatively higher in the south thai in the north. A disturbance moved off the northern part of the North Island yesterday and since then the weather has improved in most districts. There has been further heavy rain, however, m the north-eastern part of the North Island, East Cape reporting a fall of 242 points and Gisborne one of 193 points. Elsewhere, though scattered rains have fallen in most parts, falls have been only light. There has been but little ' change in temperatures. Southerly or south-easterly winds have prevailed over the North Island, and these have been strong in places. In the South Island winds have been variable, with a predominance of northeasterlies. Auckland has had fair to fine weather with a moderate southerly breeze. At 9 a.m. today it was calm and clear. Wellington's weather was dull throughout yesterday, once again no sunshine at all being recorded. A moderate south-easterly breeze prevailed and there was occasional very light rain. At Kelburn only a trace was recorded, two points falling m Lower Hutt, With the freshening of the wind this morning the weather had improved somewhat. In Chrislchurch it was clear yesterday evening, but otherwise there has been a continuance of overcast weather with occasional showers or drizzling rain.
