HUTT VALLEY CRICKET
WICKET NEGLECTED
Reporting on the state of wicke'.s under the jurisdiction of the Hutt Valley Cricket Association, Mr. C. Wrack chairman of the grounds committee, stated at last night's meeting of the management committee that all wickets, with the exception of North Park No, 1 wicket, were being cared for and were in playing condition. Mr. Wrack said that he had kept an eye on No. 1 wicket at Nortli Paris for a considerable time and he regretted to say that the wicket was not receiving the necessary attention. He had visited the wicket on several occasions and on each visit its condition was noticeably worse. Mr. J. Wilson was of the opinion that the wicket had not received attention for the past two weeks and an inspection earlier in the evening had revealed that it had not been touched since last Saturday's match. The wicket was overgrown with weeds and early action would have to be taken.
Mr. H. Jones (secretary) said thai the club concerned was paid 5s weekly for the preparation of that wicket and it appeared to him that the club was benefiting under false pretences. It was decided on the motion of Mr. G. Boult that the lease of the wicket be suspended as from January 11. ■
