NOTES FROM HAWERA
(Special from "Limited.") HAWERA, This Day. ; Lowenberg, Knock Out, and Brilliancy, in charge of their trainer O. Cox, left by train yesterday morning to fulfil their engagements at the Wellington Racing Club's Meetina On Saturday, Lowenberg and Knock Out had their final gallop before leaving. The course was slow, being affected by heavy rains, but the pair, by covering six furlongs in lmin 21sec, did the best comparative gallop of the morning. Lowenberg went particularly well, finishing solidly three-quarters of a length in front of the mare. Aga Khan paced a round, finishing up a second circuit by running five furlongs in lmiri 9isec. He is working freely and is likely .to run prominently at Ashhurst tomorrow. From a large number of applicants Mr. H. J. ("Dick") Croker has been appointed custodian of the Egmont racecourse. Mr. Croker has been long identified with racing, being a prominent and popular supporter of hunting in the district, and an official of the Egmont Racing Club for some years. He has been engaged in farm managing for the last two years. His duties will commence after the Egmont Meeting next month.
