GERMAN COLONIES
DEMAND FOR RETURN
"THE TIME WILL COME"
SPEECH BY GOEBBELS
United Press Assm:i;itioii—By Electric TeleKni|ih—Copyright. I BERLIN, January 13. "The time will come when Germany ' must demand her colonies back," declared Dr. Goebbels, Minister of Propaganda, addressing 20,000 Berlin Nazis, j He added that Germany could not continue to live as a poor country while the rest of the world rolled in wealth. "We are beggars; we have no colonies and no raw materials," he said. "We are confronted with diffi- j culties which cannot be overcome by internal methods. Others don't need the colonies they have taken from us. It is dangerous for the world not to concede such demands, because some day the bomb will explode."
''There are moments," he, added, "when one has to take the sword and cut the knot. We don't want to interfere in the conflict between Britain and Abyssinia on the one hand and Italy on the other, but Germany is learning a lesson from the situation, namely, that a nation without power cannot preserve peace, and that we cannot rely on the League."
. Dr. Goebbels concluded by saying; "We must become a nation of martyrs, because we have certain tasks to fulfil in the world."
