QUEEN'S PERSONAL APPEAL
Girls attending publics-schools ail over the country, and sub-debutantes . busy with classes at home, are the sub- " ject of a personal appeal from th« Queen, states,the London 'tDaily Telegraph." i . Mary Needlework Guild, number? of which include the' King, all four Princes, the Duchess of York and .the Duchess of Kent, and either to knit or sew garments or to ensure, a certain supply of clothes foe the yearly distribution. • Any girl over eight years .old' is eligible to respond to- this Royal irivitation. At present the - youngest member of the Queen's own group of the guild is nine-year-old Princess Elizabeth, who contributed a pale grey scarf this year knitted by herself in rib and garter stitch. ' " '" The Queen is especially anxious that the debutantes of the future shall help her with a work that has been going on for fifty-three years, and asks them to write for details to "the Hon. Jean Bruce, her Woman of the" Bedchamber, at Buckingham Palace.
