The selection of the Val to Otago at the forthcoming Sanders Cup, contest will probably create a great deal of interest among yachtsmen in other centres, where she- is known to. be an untried, boat and is considered capable of putting 'up :a good performance if handled properly. There are some Otago yachtsmen who consider that the Betty should have been chosen to go to Auckland, but despite the wonderful record of w.the "former Canterbury and Wellington boat, it would appear that the,- selectors had no option but to cast their votes in favour of the'Val in view of the good showing she has put up in the trials, says the "Otago Daily Times."
