Mr. W. T. Grundy, who as headmaster of the Clyde Quay school for more than twenty-five years was honoured at the recent closing-down function of the school, is in a private hospital with a broken left ■ thigh bone, the result of a fall at his home. He is progressing favourably. Mr. Rupert Green, of Wellington, left Auckland by the Mariposa yesterday for Sydney oh the first stage of an extended tour abroad. ' , The Mayor of Wellington, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, and Mrs. Httslop are spending a month's holiday at Rotorua. Mr. R. C. Mannington, advance manager for Wirth's Circus, arrived from the South Island today. Mr. and Mrs. D. Cook (Christchurch) and Mr. R. D. Thomsen (Wanganui) are staying at the Midland Hotel. Mr. R. D. Thomson, manager for the D.I.C. in Wanganui, has been appointed merchandise manager for the D.I.C. in Wellington. He will be succeeded in Wanganui by Mr.: J. R. Keenan, assistant manager of the D.I.C. in Christchurch. The new appointments will take effect as from early in the New Year. ~ Mr. and Mrs.. W. A. Nehoff '(Auckland), Mr. and Mrs. N. Rygate (Tamworth), Messrs. H. Wilson and W. C. Snedden (Auckland), G. W. Sherman (Christclurrch), . and / Kingsley-Roth. (Fiji) are staying at the Hotel St. George. Mr. and Mrs. Gilberd (Wanganui), Messrs. Lodely (Palmerston North), G. W. Smith (Mastertori), J. Cromb (Christchurch), R. L.. Monsbn . (Port Chalmers), Toomey, F. B.- Kerr, L. D. Smith, N. D. Henderson, O. B. Day, and D. Thomson (Dunedin) ■■ are staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Aitken and Mr. and Mrs. Colin. Martin r(Auckland), Messrs. A. Fox (Pahiatua), J: D.HeDonald and C. T. Major (Auckland) are staying at the Royal Oak Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. Atmore (Napier),. Mr. and Mrs. A. Stewart and Messrs. E. R. Tompkinson (Eltham), E.R. Taylor, and R; B. Veale (New Plymouth)', C. R. Holland, E. V. Russell, and Mr.-and Mrs.' C. R. Acland (Whakatane), Mr. and Mrs. McGillan .(Palmerston North), Messrs. A. C. Earl (Christchurch), B. Lloyd (Blenheim), Mr. and Mrs. S.
