RECORD AUCKLAND CHRISTMAS

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. "It was the heaviest Christmas we have experienced," said a postal official today, referring to a record volume of work for the Christmas week. On December 23 48,104 telegrams were transmitted, compared with 21,680 on the corresponding day last year. The Christmas Eve totals were respectively 100,019 and 78,329.

Mail matter handled for the week ended on Christmas Eve was 10,584 inwaril bags and 9228 outward bags.
