YOUNG MAN CONVICTED
Leslie James Clements, a 21-year-old labour, had several drinks yesterday with .a friend whom he knew in the South Island, but when his friend was sleeping in his hotel bedroom he stole his watch and hat. These were valued at £2 10s, so the theft was naturally reported to the police. When Clements heard about it lie gave the articles to the hotel proprietor and himself to the police. • ' In the Magistrate's Court today he was convicted by Mr. *W. F. Stilwell, | S.Mi, and ordered to come up for senI tence if called upon within six months.
