Special forecast lor Wellington:— Light to moderate northerly winds. Weather fair to fine and warm. The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole issued at noon today is for variable and mainly light to moderate winds, with northerlies predominating about and to the south of Cook Strait. Fair to fine and warm weather may be expected in most districts, but some scattered rain is likely at times in Westland and in far southern parts. Although conditions have continued disturbed over the western part of the Tasman Sea, any disturbance which has1 reached New Zealand has only been slight and in the process of petering out. Slight fluctuations in pressure have occurred in the south, but otherwise pressure has continued high over the New Zealand area. to moderate southerly winds have prevailed from ■ Auckland northward. Thence southward winds have been more variable, westerlies on the whole predominating. Rain has fallen ia Westland and in the far south, falls being heavy in places, and light misty rain was falling this morning in a few places in the South Taranaki Bight. Temperatures have remained high. Auckland has had a continuance of fine and warm weather, a light southerly wind prevailing. In Wellington the weather became fine yesterday afternoon. Althougn cloudy this morning, it was still fair and warm. A light to moderate northerly breeze has prevailed throughout. Yesterday's sunshine totalled 5.1 hours, all recorded in the afternoon. Christchurch had another hot day with a maximum temperature of 87 degrees. It was cloudy to overcast at times, but otherwise fine with a fresh north-easterly breeze. In Dunedin yesterday afternoon it was overcast and showery, but otherwise it was fair and warm. ■ Yesterday's light south-westerly breeze had given place this morning to a light northerly.
