DISPOSED OF BY LEAGUE

OIL QUESTION STILL OPEN

(Received December 20, 2.45 p.m.) LONDON, December 19. . The special representative of the Associated Press at Geneva says that the formula publicly adopted by the Committee of Thirteen (namely, the Council without the parties to the dispute) finally disposes of the Paris Peace Plan so far as the League is concerned. British quarters afterwards -admitted that'there: was no prospect of its revival in its present form. It is understood that the Russian and Denmark delegates were most vigorous opponents of the plan, but all were agreed that in its present form it is valueless. The session ended suddenly with a brief meeting of the Committee of Eighteen to take note of the Council's decision. . . The Associated Press representative' was authoritatively assured that the guarded character of/the Committee of Eighteen's communique does not imply that consideration of the oil embargo will be abandoned, but it is desired <o provide a breathing space for the world to assimilate the events of the past fortnight. At present it is the intention of the Committee of Eighteen to reconsider oil sanctions early in the New Year, but an earlier meeting will be held if the Council sees an opportunity :to initiate fresh peace proposals.
