CHRISTMAS BROADCAST

RUGBY, December 18. The 8.8.c; announces that plans are now practically completed for the home and Empire broadcast • culminating in the King's message to his peoples on Christmas Day. The programme is entitled "This Great Family," a title suggested by his Majesty's reference to his headship, of this great and widespread family in his Christmas message of last year. The programme will open at 2.25 p.m. witlva prologue consisting of a-relay df the bells of the Church of the Nativity at Bethlehem. From 2.30 p.m. onwards messages from various points in. Great Britain and the Dominions will be flashed in succession round the earth His Majesty will speak from Sandringham at 3 o'clock. At the end of the Royal message the National Anthem will be sung simultaneously from different points in Great Britain, and listeners will hear it in succession from Northern Ireland, Scotland, North of England, Wales, and London.
