JOCKEYS FOR TARANAKI
The Auckland Province lias strong representation at the holiday meetings in Taranaki this year, and thus it is not surprising, to find that several northern riders will attend the racing at New Plymouth and Stratford. Some will return home after riding at.New Plymouth. Among those with engagements at the Taranaki meeting are L. Dulieu, E. Manson, and L. McRae, Sporting Song; L. Clifford, Tahurangi, Refresher, Golden Rill, Clessamor. Headmistress (second day); L. Dulieu, Ingenuity; W. J. McDowell, Ruaform; R. Webby, Soloist; H. Cook, St. Clara, Celeste, Careful.
An excellent performance was given in the weight-for-age Strickland Stakes by Messrs. Wittenoom and Lefroy's Iliad filly Yaringa, says a Perth message. Balkan Prince, who recently defeated her over a mile, was favourite, but Yaringa was going away from him at the end of the nine furlongs. Yaringa's finishing effort suggests that she will win the Derby, and perhaps run well in the Perth Cup,
