DISCUSSION WITH CABINET

VALUE OF CO-OPERATION

The members of the Dairy Board met the Cabinet this week, and an informal discussion took place in ■ connection wifti the work of the boards

The chairman (Mr. A. J. Murdoch) and the deputy chairman (Mr. C; P. Agar) outlined the- objectives of the board, and assured Cabinet that the Government would have the full cooperation of the board on matters affecting the welfare bfHhe industry: In reply, " the Hon. P. Fraser, whb represented the Prime Minister, thanked theY ' board for its offer of co-operation, and assured those present that the .Government would make full use of the board's assistance in the practical problems which it would.be called upon to face, in connection with the industry. The Government regarded the board as the executive body at the head of. the industry, and it naturally, wanted to have its full co-operation. When proposals regarding the industry were being formulated, it would look to the Dairy Board, for frank but helpful criticism, and he felt sure that by cooperating together they would achieve something really of value. He could assure them that the Government earnestly desired their full assistance. Looking back to the past, he could point out to them that the party which he had the honour to represent had, from the outset, been unanimously in favour of the setting up of a board-to deal with dairy produce, and, as; the years had gone by, they had never once regretted their action in supporting the original proposals which had made the board possible:
