STATION LAY-OUT
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —The tiled oval lay-out in the centre of Bunny Street between Featherston Street and Waterloo Quay is quite a nice piece of work. When the flowers and shrubs are planted quite an aesthetic effect should be produced. In the meantime,, and before the shrubs are planted, might •I. suggest that at least 20 feet be cut off either end of the oval. At the moment if one takes a direct line from foot-
path to footpath crossing Featherston and Bunny Streets, it is necessary to walk over the tilings; or. make a detour of several yards towards the'tramline. From a traffic viewpoint it will be necessary to describe almost a circle to. circumvent the tiled kerbing if it be d«sired to come up one side' of Bunny Street and down the other. ':
It is understood that some townplanning interests will have some practicable suggestions to offer with regard to the approaches of the new station early in the New: Year, and the authorities responsible for the proposed general lay-out might profit by hearing their views before arriving at any definite conclusions. In the ' meantime, a responsible officer of the Public Works Department, whose atten-j tion was drawn. to the : tiles - referred to, admitted that the oval-,as at present warranted further consideration.— I am, etc., '■-.'■■■-■'
