GIRL DROWNED IN RIVER

■' GISBORNE, December 18. A seven-year-old, girl, Materoa Putiputi Hughes, was drowned in the river at Hick s Bay on Sunday. In company with other children, iihe went to the river to bathe, but her companions later left for home. The girl's clothes were found-on the"bdnkjfand the body was later recovered from a deep pool.
