REDUCED CHARGES

RAILWAY DINING-ROOMS

The Government Railways Board has decided that on and'after January 5, the charge for all meals at railway refreshment rooms is to be reduced from 2s 6d to 2s. This may reduce for a while the earnings from the diningrooms; but it is felt that the more popular price will in the long run make up for the temporary loss. The reduction from $d to 6d for "tea and sandwich," madte a year or two agoj has been followed by. a sufficient increase in business to more than compensate for the reduction in . price. , Although the price of meals in railway dining-rooms ■is to be reduced, there will be no decrease in the quality of the meals or in the efficiency of the service.' The present reduction is made in an .endeavour to meet the demand for.lower travel costs.
