TALLOW MARKET QUIET.
The Bank of New Zealand Produce Department is in receipt of the following advice from its London office, December 18:—There have been no public sales of tallow this week. The market is very quiet. Current quotations are: Good mutton, 32s 6d to 33s per cwt; beef, 30s to 30s 6d; mixed, 29s 6d t0305;..gut,'25540-26s 6d,
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, December 18. Mr. L. M. Wright has, received the following cabled report on the Colombo tea auction of December 17:—At yesterday's auction all-grades were keenly competed for,, medium and fine" teas showing, ah advance of. 2 to 3 cents. The quality of the offerings showed a further improvement. The next sale will be held on January 7. According to private advices received in Wellington there was a very-strong market for common teas at Colombo this week, arid were generally dearer. Good teas were firm. Quality is improving, and is very good for the time of the year. ■ ; At Calcutta there was a Strong market for all descriptions, especially commons. The market was strong, with prices dearer, at London.
