CARPENTER—FERGUSON.

The wedding was solemnised at the Wesley . Church, Taranaki Street; on Wednesday afternoon of Gladys Aitken younger daughter of Mrs. Ferguson Hataitai, and the late Mr. S. H. Ferguson, to George Frederick, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Carpenter, Brooklyn. The bride, who was escorted by her brother, Mr. T. Ferguson, wore a lovely gown of ivory satin, made on classical lines, with the back panel of the skirt falling into a graceful train. The bodice was made with long sleeves, : shirred at the shoulder line and wrist, and the neck had, appliques of the satin lace stitched to form a circular yoke, giving a Richelieu effect: Her veil of tulle fell from a coronet of orange blossom, and she carried an exquisite bouquet of white roses, pale pink "Sweetheart" roses,' white sweet peas, and; stephariotis. The trailed ends were studded with the tiny roses. There were two bridesmaids—Miss Elizabeth Ferguson (sister of the bride), and Miss Helen Taylor. Both wore graceful frocks of delphinium blue lace; the chief bridesmaid's had epaulettes of the lace and a pretty flounced skirt; Miss Taylor's had a cape collar, and blue sash with bow and long ends. Both wore bandeaux of blue velvet flowers in their hair, and carried bouquets of pale pink roses, dainty polyanthus roses and-sweet peas, the trailed ends being finished with small roses. | Mr. Stanley Watt was best man, Mr. i H. Temple White was at the organ, and during the signing of the register Mrs. E. Astill sang "All Joy Be Thine." The reception was held in the N.Z.E.I. room \in the "Evening Post" building, which had been charmingly decorated with beautiful flowers in vases and bowls. ; Mrs. Ferguson, assisted by Mrs. Carpenter, sen., received a large number of guests.' Mrs. Ferguson was in a smart brown and white spotted marocaim ensemble under a plain brown silk coat;; her hat'was of brown relieved with beige, and she carried a bouquet dT autumn tinted roses. Mrs. Carpenter was in a becoming blue : ensemble under a black silk coat, black hat with touches of white, and carried, a bouquet of .rich red roses. A delicious, afternoon tea was served, and songs' were given by Mrs. Gwen Clayton and the Rev. J. H. Haslam. Several telegrams of congratulation were received. A congratulatory speech ,was made by Mr. J. Lancaster, a family friend. The handsome wedding cake, which was greatly admired, had been made by Miss Jessie Aitken (Auckland, aunt of the bride). Later, when Mr: and Mrs. Carpenter, jun., left by car, the bride was in a smart outfit of navy blue and white. The frock of navy and white was worn under a three-quarter coat of plain blue. She wore a matching Bretori sailor hat with touches of white, and blue accessories. Her handsome fur stole 'was the gift of the bridegroom. Later, the bride sent her bridal bouquet to a sick friend'who was unable to be present. The guests included Mr. and Mrs: Boryer, aunt of the bride (Taihape), Mr; J.'. Ferguson, uncle of the bride (Pohangina Valley),' Mrs: Bray, Mrs. Slaviri (Auckland) and Mrs, S. Watt (sisters of the bridegroom), Mr.,arid, Mrs. G. Silver, Miss Hurley, Miss Dorothy Ferguson, Mr. and Mrs. J. Lancaster, Rev. and Mrs. F. Leadley, Rev. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Haslam, Mr. and Mrs. Watt, sen., Mr. and Mrs. Graham, Mrs. and Miss Bird. Mr. and Mrs. Gourley, Miss Bollard, Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Smith, Mrs. Lain, Miss E. Paddison, Mrs. J. A. Shand, Mrs. A. Aitken, Mrs. E. Arlow, Miss A. Hilliard, Mrs. A. McCune, Mr. and Mrs. A. Brodie,.
