TODAY'S PLAY

The fifth series of matches in the local, senior cricket championship competition was commenced this afternoon in bright weather. The second day's play in this series will not take place until January 11, the long break being due to the M.C.C. team's visit and to the Christmas-New Year holidays. Two of the four senior matches were played on the Basiii,Reserve today— Kilbirnie v.' Wellington College Old Boys on No. 1 wicket and-Wellington v. Karori on No. 2 wicket. At Kilbirnie, University met Midland, and the match at the Hutt Recreation Ground "j was between- Petone and Hutt. Kilbirnie against Old Boys had made 80 for five wickets by 3 p.m. Karori against Wellington had made 60 for four wickets.
