PALMERSTON N., This Day. In view of the fact that the Farmers' Union is supposed to be a nonpolitical body, certain members of the Manawatu executive on , Saturday thought their official organ: "Point Blank" had stepped over the fence when it endeavoured in. recent issues to ridicule the Labour Party.

Mr. H. McLeavey (Ohau)., in asking that congratulations ' be conveyed to the Prime Minister (the Hon. M. J. Savage) on the success of his party, moved that the executive also express its regret that owing to the action, of the Dominion president (Mr. W. J. Poison, M.P.), the official organ was used in an endeavour to ridicule Labour. Such unfair tactics by a nonpolitical organisation, had been viewed with much, disfavour by every real farmer in New Zealand, he said.

While, other members were in agreement, there was a section of the executive which thought that politics should still be left out of- the union's discussions. •

An amendment to confine expressions to congratulations only was carried by 7 votes to 5.
