WASHINGTON, .December 7.
Mr. George Peek, formerly President Roosevelt's special trade adviser and president of the Federal Export and Import banks, followed his resignation with a violent denunciation today of not only the Canadian tariff treaty but also the Administration's
"whole policy regarding commercial and financial matters."
Mr. Peek opened his statement by declaring that he was speaking as a private citizen. ■ He alleged that the Administration's tariff policy violated the President's pre-election pledge not to cut duties on agricultural commodities, and alleged that the extension of the most-favoured-nation principle was seriously impairing the . world's trade. He clearly implied a break with the Administration, which will mean that he will take an active part in the election campaign against President Roosevelt. He indicated that he is willing to throw his recognised vote-getting services to the political party that would support his trade principles.
