NOTE TO LEAGUE

EMPEROR PROTESTS

"INTERNATIONAL LAW VIOLATED"

(Received December 7, 2.30. p.m!) GENEVA, December 6. The Emperor of Abyssinia has sent a Note to the League of Nations, "declaring that Italy is aiming at; the destruction of the Abyssinian people not by the use of Italian' troops but solely mechanically, and with the aid of native levies.

"The Italian Government may consider itself authorised: to bombard us when we go out and.share the: sufferings of our soldiers to defend our soil," he states, "but the bombing of open towns such as Debat and Goridar and numerous villages inhabited, by non-combatants, the killing of .women and children, and the bombing of Red Cross hospitals undeniably violates international law. The bombardment of Dessie is established by four Red Cross doctors and representatives of the British and American Press. We have personally established the deaths of a woman and two children. We ask you to communicate to members of the League these new Italian violations of international law."

The Mayor of Canterbury, has been to Brussels Exhibition and presented the Burgomaster with a model of Canterbury Cathedral. Over 16,000,00* people have seen the exhibitibpii. ' ; ~
