MINISTERS AT WORK

MEETING THEIR OFFICERS

CABINET ON TUESDAY

Members of the new Labour Ministry are losing no time in getting down to serious work. The majority of them spent this morning in interviewing the heads of the Departments they will be called upon to administer and dealing with an accumulation of routine

matters.

The first meeting of the new Cabinet was held last evening and lasted for just over two hours. Most of the Ministers will pay brief visits to their electorates at the weekend, returning to -Wellington on Tuesday morning, when there will be a further meeting of Cabinet.

Departmental officers generally agree that the proposal of the Ministers to co-opt members of Parliament to assist in the work of government is a sound one and should make for efficiency.
