QHRISTMAS PUDDING SPOILED

(Received December 7, 12.40 p.m.) LONDON, December 6. Hundreds of home-made Christmas puddings have been discovered to have been made from brown sugar containing sand. A ship load of sugar was I imported from Barbados specially for puddings and was retailed. There was no suspicion until housewives complained of a gritty taste, and examination revealed that not only was the sugay gritty but peppery and pebbly, and grocers are offering a refund of the cost of the puddings.
